Orders, shipping and account
To place an order, register on the dentra.it portal with an invitation code provided by the lab. After your account is approved (usually within 24 hours), go to the Orders section and follow the guided procedure: select the type of work, upload your STL files, choose materials and finishes, and confirm the order. The portal automatically calculates the quote before confirmation so you can verify costs and delivery times.
We accept STL files from any CAD/CAM system (exocad, 3Shape, ZirkonZahn Modellier, DentalWings, Medit, and others). For design orders, you can upload intraoral scans of the upper arch, lower arch, and bite in STL format. If you have files in other formats (PLY, OBJ, DCM), contact us to evaluate compatibility. No specific software is required: simply export the file from your scanner or CAD in open STL format.
Delivery times vary depending on the type of work. For zirconia crowns and bridges, it generally takes 3-5 business days from order confirmation. Milled temporaries require 2-3 business days. CAD design (digital design) is completed within 2-4 business days. For ceramic layering, times depend on the complexity of the work. If you need faster turnaround, you can select the Rush option when placing the order.
Yes, when creating the order you can activate the "Rush Order" option. The job will be handled with top priority and delivery times will be reduced by approximately 30%. The rush service includes a 15% surcharge on the order total. Priority is assigned immediately and your order is highlighted in our management system to ensure maximum speed.
For milling, we work with high-quality zirconia: Shofu, Biodynamic, Bredent, Whitepeaks, and ZirkonZahn, available in various translucencies and VITA shades. For ceramic layering, we use CZR/Noritake, Ivoclar, high-strength Reox, and Miyo micro-layering. For 3D printing, we use resins certified for intraoral permanence at 385nm and 405nm. All materials are certified for medical use and comply with European medical device regulations.
Yes, we offer a complete dental CAD design service. If you don't have CAD software or prefer to rely on our specialists, you can select the "Design" option when creating the order. Upload the intraoral scans (upper arch, lower arch, and bite) and our team handles the complete digital design. We specialize in Toronto Bridge design with custom frame and internal bar, as well as crowns, bridges, and implant structures.
We offer various shipping methods that you can select at the time of ordering. Shipping is handled by express courier with full tracking. Yes, from the client portal you can monitor your order status in real time through all stages of production: from confirmation to manufacturing, from quality control to shipping. Every status change is recorded with date and time. When the work is shipped, you'll receive the tracking number to follow the delivery with the courier. You can access the complete history of all your orders from the portal dashboard.
Invoices are issued monthly: all orders delivered during the month are grouped into a single invoice per client, issued on the first of the following month. We issue electronic invoices through the Italian Exchange System (SDI) in compliance with Italian B2B electronic invoicing regulations. During registration, we ask for your SDI destination code or PEC for automatic delivery. Payment is made by bank transfer with a 30-day term from the invoice date.
Payment is exclusively by bank transfer. Bank details (IBAN) are shown on the electronic invoice you receive via SDI. We do not accept credit card, PayPal, or cash-on-delivery payments. As a B2B service for dental professionals, bank transfer ensures complete transaction traceability and tax compliance.

The Dentra team is located at Via Pasubio 58D, Valdagno (VI) — we're also available for in-person meetings by appointment.
When each order is delivered, you receive a link to rate the work with a score from 1 to 5 stars and leave a comment. The feedback is used to improve service quality and evaluate the performance of the collaborators who worked on your order. The feedback system is an integral part of our quality control: each rating contributes to the collaborator's score and their advancement in the tier system (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum).
Yes, from the client portal you have access to the implant library with STL and XML files for major implant systems, available for free download. Files are organized by implant brand and model and can be imported directly into your CAD software for design. The library is regularly updated with new compatibilities. If your implant system is not listed, contact us and we'll add it.
Yes, we offer video consultations to discuss complex cases and plan treatments. You can request a video call directly from the portal in the dedicated section. Video consultations are useful for discussing the design of complex cases such as Toronto Bridges, full-arch on implants, or anterior aesthetic rehabilitations. The Dentra technical team is available to analyze scans, propose design solutions, and agree on materials and finishes before proceeding with the order.
Peer review is our internal quality control system. Collaborators who reach the Gold level in the tier system can review their colleagues' work before delivery to the client. The reviewer checks the quality of the work, marginal fit, and the aesthetics of the restoration, providing structured feedback. For each completed review, the reviewer receives additional compensation. This double-check ensures consistently high quality standards on every order.
Materials, technology and processes
5-axis milling is a CNC process where the tool moves simultaneously on 5 axes (X, Y, Z plus 2 rotational axes), allowing undercuts and complex geometries to be reached in a single operation. In dental, this enables milling Toronto Bridges, implant bars, and structures with angles up to 30° without repositioning the workpiece. The result is superior marginal precision (±10 µm) and smoother surfaces compared to 3 or 4-axis milling. Dentra uses ZirkonZahn M2 (latest generation) and M1 milling machines.
The designation indicates the percentage of yttria (Y₂O₃) stabilizer in the zirconia. 3Y-TZP (3 mol%) has the highest flexural strength (~1,200 MPa) but low translucency: it's ideal for copings and posterior structures. 4Y-PSZ (4 mol%) balances strength (~800 MPa) and translucency: it's the most common compromise for monolithic posterior and anterior restorations. 5Y-PSZ (5 mol%) has maximum translucency, similar to lithium disilicate, but lower strength (~650 MPa): it's suited for aesthetic anteriors and inlays/onlays. Some multi-layer zirconia discs combine all three layers to optimize aesthetics and strength.
Dry milling works pre-sintered material ("green" or "white" state) without coolant: it's faster and used for zirconia, PMMA, and wax. The piece is then sintered in an oven at 1,450-1,550 °C, shrinking by 20-25%. Wet milling uses a water jet as coolant and works already-sintered or very hard materials (titanium, cobalt-chrome, glass ceramics). It's slower but doesn't require subsequent sintering. Dentra uses both techniques depending on the material and restoration type.
A Toronto Bridge is a full-arch fixed prosthesis screwed onto 4-6 implants, replacing all teeth in an arch. Digital design starts from the intraoral scan or master model: first the internal bar (metal or zirconia frame that screws onto the implants) is designed, then the outer structure with the teeth. Dentra designs Toronto Bridges using the ZirkonZahn system, including a custom frame, internal bar with screw access holes, and teeth in layered or monolithic zirconia. The process includes clinical validation before definitive milling.
In dental, photopolymeric resins certified for medical use are used, divided by wavelength: 385 nm resins offer greater precision for fine details (diagnostic models, surgical guides), while 405 nm resins polymerize faster and are used for temporaries and devices for intraoral permanence. Class IIa certified resins (MDR 2017/745) can remain in the mouth for up to 2 years. Dentra uses both technologies to ensure the most suitable material for each clinical application.
EU Regulation 2017/745 on Medical Devices (MDR) replaces the previous Directive 93/42/EEC and establishes stricter requirements for the production and marketing of medical devices in the EU. For a dental lab, MDR compliance involves: complete traceability of materials and processes, technical documentation for each custom device, a declaration of conformity with each delivered work, and a post-market surveillance system. Dentra is MDR 2017/745 compliant and provides a declaration of conformity with every job.
Ceramic layering is the process of manually layering feldspathic or glass ceramic on the zirconia structure to reproduce the natural appearance of the tooth. The technician applies ceramic powders (dentin, enamel, transparent, opalescent) layer by layer, firing in an oven at 800-950 °C after each application. Colors and staining are used for chromatic characterization. Dentra uses CZR/Noritake, Ivoclar, and Miyo micro-layering ceramics to achieve natural aesthetic results. The monolithic alternative (without layering) involves coloring and glazing directly on the milled zirconia.
A surgical guide is a device that guides the surgeon in the precise placement of implants during surgery. It is digitally designed starting from the patient's CBCT (CT scan) and intraoral scan, planning the position, angle, and depth of each implant. The guide is then 3D printed with certified biocompatible resin and includes metal sleeves that guide the implant drills. This approach (guided surgery) reduces operating times, increases precision, and improves the predictability of results compared to freehand surgery.
Fixed prosthetics are cemented or screwed onto natural teeth or implants and cannot be removed by the patient: they include single crowns, bridges, veneers, and Toronto Bridges. They offer stability, chewing comfort, and superior aesthetics. Removable prosthetics (full or partial) can be removed by the patient for hygiene: they include complete dentures and skeletal frameworks with clasps or precision attachments. The choice depends on the clinical situation, the number of remaining teeth, and the presence of implants. Today the trend is toward implant-supported fixed solutions even for edentulous patients.
Immediate loading is an implant technique where the temporary prosthesis is placed on the implants within 24-48 hours of surgery, rather than waiting the traditional 3-6 months for osseointegration. This is possible thanks to implants with treated surfaces for high primary stability and temporary prostheses designed to distribute loads in a controlled way. Dentra supports immediate loading with dedicated CAD design and rapid milling of PMMA temporaries, guaranteeing delivery within 24 hours of the post-operative scan.
Restoration precision is measured by evaluating the marginal gap (distance between the restoration edge and the tooth preparation line) and the internal fit (adaptation of the internal surface). A clinically acceptable marginal gap is less than 120 µm according to the literature, but with 5-axis milling, values of 10-50 µm are achieved. Verification is done by optical scanning of the restoration and digital superimposition with the original model. Dentra verifies every job with digital quality control before shipping.
The digital workflow (intraoral scan → CAD → CAM) eliminates silicone impressions, plaster models, and wax modeling. The main advantages are: greater precision (digital scans have an accuracy of 10-20 µm vs 50-100 µm for traditional impressions), reduced times (the STL file reaches the lab in minutes), permanent digital archiving, real-time clinician-technician communication, and exact reproducibility of the restoration in case of remake. Dentra has worked exclusively digitally since 2017.
