Dentra Viewer for desktop

Free and with no account needed. It opens models on your computer, even offline, and tells you when a new version is out.

What it does

The app opens 3D models directly on your computer: several files at once and the HTML projects from the design software. The files stay on your computer, they aren't uploaded anywhere. From the “Open” menu you choose files or a whole folder; from the “Save” menu you save an HTML page or an image of what you see. On Windows, and on the Mac up to macOS 15, the app asks whether you want to always open 3D models with it: press “Yes, set it” (on Windows you then choose it in the Settings that open).

Downloading it

You'll find it on the Downloads page, for Mac and for Windows. The latest version is always there and, if you need them, the earlier ones too.

Installing it

The first time, your computer asks for a confirmation: one minute, and only once. For Macs with Apple silicon (M1 and later).

Mac

  • Open the downloaded file and drag the app into the Applications folder.
  • Open the app. Your Mac says it can't verify it: close the message.
  • Go to System Settings, then Privacy & Security. Scroll to the bottom and click «Open Anyway».
  • Confirm with your password or Touch ID. From then on it opens normally.

Windows

  • If your browser asks whether to keep the file, choose «Keep».
  • Open the file. If «Windows protected your PC» appears, click «More info» and then «Run anyway».
  • Follow the installer. From then on the app opens normally.

These warnings appear because the apps are new and not yet registered with Apple and Microsoft: we're working on it. The apps update themselves.

Updating it

When a new version is out, an icon with a red dot appears next to the name at the top: press it, then press “Update now”. On Windows the app updates and reopens on its own; on the Mac usually too, otherwise the download opens: drag the new app into Applications, replacing the old one. The number next to the name is the version you have: click it to check whether there's a newer one.

Connecting it to your account

The first time you send a link, the app asks you to sign in with your Dentra account. Otherwise the files stay on your computer.

    With the models open, press “Send link” at the top.

    Press “Sign in with Dentra”

    Your browser opens on the Dentra page. If you're not signed in, it asks you to sign in.

    Confirm and go back to the app

    Confirm in the browser and go back to the app: in the “Send link” panel you see “Connected as” with your email, your plan and how much you've already used.

    Press “Create the link”

    You can give the link a title. When it's ready, copy it or open it. On the free plan the link lasts 7 days; with PRO it's permanent, and you change expiry, password and download afterwards on Dentra, as explained in Creating and managing links.

If Dentra Viewer isn't active on your account yet, the app tells you: open Dentra Viewer on the website, press “Activate for free”, then go back to the app and press “Try again”.

Disconnecting a computer

To disconnect the computer you're using, press “Disconnect this computer” in the “Send link” panel. All the apps connected to your account are in My account → Access, under “Connected apps”, with how many computers they're connected on: “disconnect” unlinks Dentra Viewer from all your computers at once. From then on they can't send links in your name.
